Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH)
Many communities in Africa are vulnerable and access to clean water for them is among the lowest in the world. This situation harms on many levels, among others, the economic and health situation of the population. This has led to a high child mortality rate and deteriorating maternal health. Many people drink water from surface water sources (rivers, ponds, shallow wells) which are heavily contaminated by faecal bacteria and other dangerous pathogens. Even in places where water distribution networks exist, the water usually is not treated or just partly treated and requires a process of disinfection to be safe for human consumption.
60,000 children under 5 years in Nigeria die from disease caused by limited access to water, sanitation and hygiene.
Our Solution
We embark on several hygiene promotion, access to clean water and safe water storage programmes to ensure there are improved quality and lifestyle to many households in Africa.
